Mealworms are the larval stage of Tenebrio molitor, a darkling beetle. These are an affordable, easily accessible insect to offer crunchy texture and variety in your hedgehog's diet. Because mealworms are low in calcium and high in phosphorus, we recommend feeding sparingly at no more than 5-10 mealworms per night. Mealworms aren't dangerous to feed, they just shouldn't make up the bulk of your hedgie's diet. :)
You can also find our dried mealworms in our Trail Mix insect blend product!
Our mealworms and beetles are sustainably raised by a small, women-owned business right here in Nebraska. Thanks for helping us support other local businesses, and choosing to purchase insects farmed in the USA rather than overseas!
